It would appear that demand was so high, however, that a new version\u2014the Spider\u2014just had to be made.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/luxurycarmagazine.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2611\" src=\"http:\/\/luxurycarmagazine.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1.jpg\" alt=\"McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1\" width=\"1048\" height=\"581\" srcset=\"http:\/\/luxurycarmagazine.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1.jpg 1048w, http:\/\/luxurycarmagazine.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1-300x166.jpg 300w, http:\/\/luxurycarmagazine.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/McLaren-675LT-Spider-2016-1-1024x568.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1048px) 100vw, 1048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I guess the ease of the transformation was a big reason McLaren decided to go with it. Remember: the 675 is essentially a 650S with numerous aerodynamic additions, lightened construction and a raise in power. We\u2019ve were introduced to the Coupe a few months back; now it\u2019s the Spider\u2019s turn to undergo a similar transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Aero additions include new side skirts, a larger rear diffuser and extended front splitter. It all helps channel the air over and to the back of the car. In order to further distinguish the Spider from the Coupe, the latter\u2019s five-spoke wheels have been replaced with unique multi-spoke items. The spider also keeps the longer active \u201cAirbrake\u201d rear wing found on the 675LT Coupe.<\/p>\n<p>A host of mechanical changes have liberated 675 hp (675\u2026get it?) ad 516 lb.-ft. of torque. This translates to a 0-100 km\/h time of just 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 326 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>For those that are worried that the removal of the roof will either lead to a bendier chassis or a heavier build in order to compensate, know that the car\u2019s MonCell carbon fiber chassis means that neither of those are the case.
