If you are currently shopping for a new vehicle, you may have noticed that your dealership has just received 2017 versions of a vehicle that is also available as a 2016 model. This tends to happen at this time of year, and that\u2019s because there is still some 2016 inventory left over while the newer models are coming in. Here are a few things to know about each option.<\/p>\n

Resale value<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even if both 2016 and 2017 models can be purchased today, in a few years, the 2016 vehicle will have a lower resale value even with the same mileage, simply because of the perception that the 2016 is one year older.<\/p>\n

Finances<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2016 model will benefit from better financing terms and more negotiation flexibility, simply because both the automaker and the dealership want to see the vehicle out the door.<\/p>\n

Trims and equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will likely be differences in the trims and versions offered in each model-year. Therefore, it is important to make sure you know the equipment you want in your vehicle, and see which vehicle (2016 or 2017), offers the features you want.<\/p>\n
