Today, Chevrolet released yet another version of its Corvette sports car.
Built specifically for those who think the Corvette Z06 isn’t quite hardcore enough, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition is available in either yellow or black, a reminder of the various Corvette race cars that have dominated tracks the world over for the last decade.
Only 500 are scheduled to be produced, and they’ll all include the Z07 performance package that provides carbon ceramic brakes. In order to show just how “special” these cars are, each one will be given a special serial number, separate from the rest of the Corvette line-up.
Other features that distinguish the C7.R Edition from other ‘Vettes include yellow brake calipers shrouded by black wheels with yellow accent stripes (which are wrapped in Michelin PS Cup 2 tires), carbon fibre ground effects, Corvette Racing kickplates, carbon fibre hood section and even an indoor car cover with C7.R graphics.
Inside, jet black leather with suede microfiber inserts and special coopetition seat, shifter and steering wheel complete the transformation to “R-ness”.
“Combined with the 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 engine, true aerodynamic downforce and performance technologies such as Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management and an electronic limited slip differential,” says Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, “the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition offers capability matched only by an elite fraternity of the world’s supercars and special-edition exclusivity that is sure to make it an instant collector’s item.”
And if we may say so ourselves, in looks pretty spectacular. Yes, the black graphics along the side may be a little too much, but when you consider that this is a 650-horsepower super car, maybe it’s not so far off.
