With winter soon upon us, it’s time to prepare our vehicle for the harsh months ahead. And even if the sun is still shining, that doesn’t mean that you should wait to get your car prepared for winter. So, to help you out, here are a few tips and reminders of how to get your vehicle ready for the cold, snow, and ice that, unfortunately, is just around the corner.
Tires and wipers
The importance of winter tires should not be underestimated. In a perfect world, you would have your tires installed before the first snowfall and even before the weather starts to dip below seven degrees, the point where all-season tires lose their effectiveness. You also want to ensure you have proper winter wipers on your vehicle in order to get optimal visibility in heavy snow fall.
Maintenance
It’s a good idea to have a complete checkup of your vehicle before winter arrives. That will ensure that your battery is in order, and that there are no unforeseen repairs on the horizon.
Emergency kit
Everyone should have an emergency kit in their vehicle. The emergency kit should include water, a first-aid kit, warm clothing, a flare, a whistle, some dry food, a shovel, salt, booster cables and traction aids.
