We\u2019ve been waiting with baited breath, but finally, Jaguar has revealed the second generation of the Jaguar XF for 2016. After making its debut walking the tightrope across the Thames in London. Now, it\u2019s made its official debut at the New York International Auto Show.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the styling front, we same the school of thought used for other models in the British manufacturer\u2019s line-up. It seems designer Ian Callum has chosen the more evolutionary route for the car, not wanting to depart too far styling-wise from the first generation of the popular car. Jaguar insists that its new from A to Z, but it\u2019s hard not to see a heavy dose of the last car when you consider the front end. The full-LED headlamps, however, are a first for Jaguar.<\/p>\n

In the rear, the bumpers have undertaken a heavy transformation and the crescent-shaped LED bulbs sitting within the taillight lenses are very reminiscent of the F-Type sports car. There\u2019s also a styling cue or two from the XE compact revealed last year.<\/p>\n

The cabin enters the modern era in terms of its presentation, the materials used and the tech. Yes, there are some classic XF touches, but you\u2019ll find inspiration from the XE in here, too. The hidden vents from the old car are gone, replaced by conventional items but we finally get a proper navigation screen. At 10.2 inches, it\u2019s one of the biggest in the industry. Like we\u2019ve seen n the XJ, the gauge cluster is an all-digital affair, the gauges, trip computer and such all displayed on a 12.3 in. TFT monitor.<\/p>\n

The XF uses an elongated version of the platform found on the XE, which helps reduce overall wright by 176 lbs. Jaguar assures that no less than 75 per cent of the structure is crafted from aluminum. Overall, the new car saves 490 lbs. over the last-gen model, while increasing stiffness by 28 %, according to Jaguar.<\/p>\n

Mechanically, the 2016 Jaguar XF <\/strong>gets two 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines making 161 and 178 hp, as well as two V6 options: one diesel, one petrol. The diesel item makes 296 hp, the V6 petrol, as much as 375 hp. There\u2019s no confirmation of which engines we\u2019ll be seeing in Canada, or whether a V8 model will be made available.<\/p>\n
