In an effort to curtail the Porsche Boxster\u2019s jealousy towards its Cayman GT4 sister, Porsche introduced the 2016 Boxster Spyder at the New York International Auto Show. A perfect summer car; too bad it won\u2019t arrive in showrooms until October of this year. Which, of course, should be no problem for residents of the Los Angeles area, which remains one of Porsche\u2019s biggest markets in the world. \u00a0There are likely also plenty of people there willing to shell out the CAD $93,700 required to purchase one of these future classics.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"113\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Spyder uses the same engine found in the Cayman GT4, making this the most powerful Boxster yet., even if its 370 horsepower is 10 off the GT4. In an effort to appeal to the purists (as if that was going to ever be a problem) the Spyder will be available only with a six-speed manual gearbox, though it would have been nice to see the 7-speed used for the 911.<\/p>\n

The 4.5 second 0-100 km\/h tim and 300 km\/h top speed should also keep said purists happy.<\/p>\n

In the handling department, the Spyder excels over other Boxsters thanks to its 20 mm lower ride height and more powerful brakes.<\/p>\n

Like the previous-gen Spyder, a big clamshell behind the occupants holds the roof, which will surely be a bear to raise, and will likely limit the car\u2019s top speed.<\/p>\n
