Prospective buyers of the new Ford GT will not be your ordinary car buyers; they\u2019ll have to first be authorized by the manufacturer before they can part with the $400,000-plus required to get their hands on the Blue Oval\u2019s new supercar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to various Reddit contributors, one of whom claims to work at a Ford dealer, future buyers will have to pass an approval process before taking the wheel of their new GT. It stands as yet another arrow thrown in the Ford v Ferrari saga (if you\u2019ll remember, the 2017 GT\u2019s ancestors were developed in large part to beat Ferrari at Le Mans), as the Italian manufacturer has taken a similar approach in the past for vehicles like the F40.<\/p>\n

Interested parties will have to first submit their candidacy to Ford, who will be able to determine right away which are possibilities, and which are to be immediately thrown out. The choice will fall primarily to customers loyal to the brand, and above all, those who have owned older generations of the GT.<\/p>\n

Once approved, buyers will have to make their way to GT-approved dealers to complete the transaction.<\/p>\n

It may all seem a little complex, but this way, the manufacturer will be able to ensure that the cars won\u2019t land in the hands of those that will just be speculating, perhaps with hopes of reselling the car at a higher rate to those that didn\u2019t get approved by Ford in the first place.<\/p>\n

The GT, assembled in Canada, will be sold as a 2017 model, with only 250 cars being built per year.<\/p>\n
