Now that the 2017 Porsche 911 has been revealed in Carrera and Carrera S forms, it\u2019s time for the Turbos to have their day in the spotlight. Porsche wasted little time in revealing the Turbo and Turbo S versions of both the coupe and cabriolet, which will get their official reveals at the Detroit International Auto Show in January.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thing is, it\u2019s a little different these days for the Turbo, as it\u2019s no longer the only 911 model with a turbocharged motor; in the interest of keeping fuel costs down and performance up, both the Carrera and Carrera S will be getting turbos, too. So, Porsche had to work a little harder to differentiate the Turbo from its Carrera brethren in the styling sense.<\/p>\n

The Turbo gets larger front openings as well as quad-tailpipes, and 20-inch wheels, as well as more aerodynamic front- and rear fascias.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, the 3.9L flat-6 returns, with turbo tech to help insure that the turbos are spinning as soon as you depress the accelerator. It makes 540 horsepower in Turbo form, and no less than 580 in Turbo S guise; that\u2019s a 20 hp jump over the 2015 models for both cars.<\/p>\n

That power\u2014plus an advanced AWD system\u2014helps the Turbo reach the 100 km\/h mark from rest in a claimed 2.9 seconds and 2.8 for the Turbo S, on to a top speed of 318 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Perhaps surprisingly for such an early release, pricing has been announced: The Turbo Coupe starts at $181,000, the Cabriolet at $195,800. The S models, meanwhile, start at $214,800 for the Coupe, and $228,800 for the droptop.<\/p>\n
