The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will have 450 horsepower

If you’ve been hearing about the new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor a lot recently, that’s because Ford has been talking about it, well, a lot. The American manufacturer likes to reveal small details here and there about its upcoming models like the Raptor, and each time the media talks about it. That’s to be expected.

Therefore, there has been quite a bit of news in the media recently about the 2017 Raptor, Ford’s biggest and meanest F-150.

The picture, however, is getting a little clearer now as we learned that the 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that powers the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will develop 450 horsepower and a whopping 510 lb-ft of torque. All of that will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Yes, 10 speeds.

Compared to the former Raptor and its 6.2-liter engine, the new generation gets 39 more horsepower while being lighter by about 227 kilos. Performance should be quite impressive.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be just as impressive off-road as it will be on it as it is equipped with a transfer case in addition to the Ford’s Terrain Management System that adjusts the truck’s settings according to six different driving modes including the Baja mode. This puts the Raptor in 4 High while adjusting the settings of the engine and the gearbox for higher performance, all the while keeping the stability control system intrusions to a minimum.

All that remains is to learn more about the price, as well as the 2017 F150 Raptor’s launch date.
