Manly and menacing. The Raptor Supercrew definitely has an imposing look. Even though the motor has actually shrunk from last year’s model, from a V8 to a V6, it actually makes more power than it used to.

In an effort to add efficiency, Ford has once again returned to the EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 well, dropping a 3.5L unit into this most aggressive version of the popular F-150 pickup. While no actual performance figures were announced, it was said that it will be more powerful than the previous gen model’s 411 horsepower V8.

Staying with the mechanical: The transmission has also been revisited, as Ford has scrapped the last model’s six-speed auto for an all-new 10-speed—TEN SPEED—‘box. Numerous drive modes, meanwhile, will allow drivers to easily navigate varying surface conditions like mud, sand and rock.

The SuperCrew nomenclature means a four-door cab, making for easy acces to the rear and good rear legroom, too. Thanks to its aluminum construction, the Raptor has dropped almost 500 lbs. over its predecessor.

The new Raptor will enter the Canadian market in the fall of ’16.
