We may not need it. In fact, we probably don’t need it (and no, what you see below isn’t exactly what we’re about to talk about).
But then, we didn’t really need a 707-horspower muscle car, either. Good folks they are at Chrysler—sorry, “Fiat Chrysler Automobiles”—though, they’ve decided to give us one anyway: the good folks over at VVUZZ report that today, at the Detroit Auto Show, among all the talk of turbocharged this and hybrid that, we are going to get a Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee. That’s right: for what we’re sure will be only a few dollars more over the Overland and Summit models, you’ll be able to have a truck that can go off-roading one day, and 0-60 in less than 4 seconds the next, with help from a bellowing, supercharged V8 engine.
While it’s a little later than some expected—there was talk of a Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk edition around this time last year—we’re pretty sure you’ll agree that the “better late than never” adage fits well in this instance.
Watch this space for more news on the Jeep to destroy all Jeeps.
