F-Pace just the beginning for Jaguar?

The introduction of the F-Pace, Jaguar’s first ever SUV, could be the first milestone in a long series of SUVs and CUVs for the British manufacturer.

Autocar reports that their confidential source at Jaguar has confirmed that we’ll be seeing a rapid multiplication of sport utility vehicles to the range. Autocar quoted the anonymous source as saying “don’t think in terms of a single model, but a whole family of SUVs.”

We’ve known about the F-Pace for a while now, but just a few weeks ago, we learned about a larger, more luxurious model called the J-Pace. Later, expect the smaller E-Pace—likely based on the all-new XE compact sedan–to go head-to-head with the likes of the Porsche Macan or Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.

Not only are we expecting new models, but variations on those models as well. It’s not hard to imagine Jaguar following the examples of BMW and Mercedes, who have often created “coupe”-type versions of existing models; think the BMW X3/X4, or recently-revealed Mercedes GLE/GLC. In Jaguar’s case, we know nothing of what these models may be called.

As we tackle the rumour mill, we can also imagine more powerful versions of the Jag ‘utes with the R division, on perhaps more appropriately, kissing-cousin Land Rover’s SVR division. With the input from those divisions, Jaguar will be able to take on the M-division at BMW, and AMG at Mercedes.

Either way, we’re expecting plenty of action off the beaten path over at Jaguar throughout the next 2-3 years.
