The new 2015 Ford Mustang unveiled

2015 Ford Mustang reveiled

After a long-awaited arrival, it’s finally here. It’s the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang, the sixth generation of the most famous of the Pony Cars. A very important model for the American automaker, the unveiling took place last week simultaneously on three separate continents. Locations include New York, Sydney and Barcelona.

As always, there will be two versions of the Ford Mustang: a coupe and a convertible. Both models will be offered with the choice of an automatic or manual transmission, while the 3.7L V6 engine and the 5.0L V8 will return. However, it’s the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine that’s holding everyone’s attention.

Ford has not unveiled the numbers relating to all three engines, but the EcoBoost is expected to produce over 300-horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The V6 should also offer more than 300 hp, while the V8 that propels the GT version will climb well above the 400 hp range.

In seeing the 2015 model for the first time, the Ford Mustang seems more powerful and ferocious than the model it is replacing. In fact, the bulging hood, the massive shoulders and the aggressive headlights create a more menacing look for the car. Good news, the stylish lines of the convertible model share the same attributes as that of the coupe.

Regardless of the engine, power will be sent to the rear wheels which – and here’s another novelty – are no longer connected by a rigid axle. The 2015 Ford Mustang is now equipped with an independent rear suspension, to the disappointment of some purists, but to the delight of all those who would like to drive their Mustang in the winter, at full throttle in the curves without feeling each bump on the road.
