Porsche unveils 2018 718 Cayman GTS and 718 Boxster GTS in Los Angeles

When exclusivity and driving pleasure are both essential elements in a mid engine sports car, the Cayman 718 and the Boxster 718 inevitably stand out of the pack. For 2018, both models get the GTS treatment in order to meet the ever growing demands of mid engine sports car enthusiasts.

Porsche 718 GTS 2018

At the heart of the new GTS models of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman lies an enhanced 2.5-litre, flat four-cylinder turbo engine that now delivers an impressive 365 horsepower, a stunning number for the size of the engine, and a 15 horsepower increase from the 718 S model. Porsche offers a choice of two transmissions; a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional PDK unit. The ladder enables the GTS two-seaters to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Top speed sits at 290 km/h.

On the driving dynamics side, it gets even more serious. 718 GTS models now get standard features such as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that lowers the body by ten millimetres, the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) that comes with rear mechanical differential lock.

Unique GTS Black Accents Inside and Out

The 718 GTS models can be clearly distinguished from the others, with black accents inside and out. The Bi-Xenon headlights are tinted, so are the tail lights. Black logos, a black rear apron and black tailpipes that are centrally position are also standard. Finally, black satin finished 20 inch wheels complete the look.

Porsche also carried the GTS features in the interior, with sports seat identified with the GTS logo in the headrests. Motorsports enthusiasts can now benefit from the Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA), which enables them to automatically record, display and analyse driving data. The PTPA can be used through the drivers’ smartphone.

For those who are wandering off the iconic Porsche 911 path to opt for a sporty mid-engine vehicle, the 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS may fulfill their needs with enhanced performance-oriented features.
