Sold at astronomical prices, Koenigsegg cars are among the most exclusive, rare, and fast on the market. Ideal for a well-off buyer who wants to stand out in a trendy neighborhood, Koenigsegg models are nevertheless quite difficult to obtain.
Indeed, it seems that the waiting list for a new Koenigsegg like the recent Regera or the Agera RS stretches over more than four years. In other words, interested would-be owners will have to wait at least until 2021 before seeing their new pride and joy settle into their air-conditioned garage.
A lengthy waiting period is not uncommon in the supercar world, but waiting four years seems a bit much. Ultimately, Bugatti, Ferrari, Pagani and all other hyper exotic car manufacturers are able to deliver their models faster, a reality that could harm the growth of the Swedish manufacturer. The latter seems to be aware of that fact
In an interview with Road & Track, Koenigsegg says it wants to increase annual production by 50%, thus reducing delivery time to two and a half years.
At least, the wait is worth it. The new Koenigsegg Regera is powered by a hybrid engine that features a turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 with 1500 horsepower. It can go from 150 km/h to 250 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, yet still offers 4G LTE Wi-Fi and two cup holders in the cockpit. Not bad…
