Nous attendions un remplacement pour le vieux Cadillac SRX depuis un bon bout de temps et nous allons enfin découvrir sa succession au Salon de l’auto de Los Angeles. En effet, Cadillac a dévoilé en images son audacieux VUS intermédiaire, le Cadillac XT5 2017.

La rupture est complète. On adopte une nouvelle stratégie pour ce qui est de la nomination des produits à la suite de la berline CT6. C’est maintenant au tour d’un premier utilitaire sport de recevoir la nomenclature avec le XT5. XT tient pour Crossover Touring alors que le chiffre tend à indiquer sa position dans la gamme. Tout comme le CT6, le 5 ne signifie pas de grande chose pour le moment, mais il faut bien débuter quelque part!
En matière de design, le XT5 reste proche de la CT6. On introduit les dogmes évolutifs du langage « Arts & Sciences ». On retrouve les phares en DEL verticaux qui longent le capot puis s’étire jusqu’à la base du parechoc. L’effet est particulièrement réussit et l’on doit aussi donner une bonne note à la calandre qui confirme de par son style les intentions prémium du XT5 2017.
Au niveau de la présentation intérieure, Cadillac assure son orientation. Toutefois, on doit souligner que l’ensemble est plus dynamique et que l’on va plus loin dans cette optique de design. Bien que l’on n’ait pas encore vu le produit dans la réalité, il semble que la finition soit nettement supérieure à ce que le SRX nous proposait. On gagne aussi en volume intérieur puisque Cadillac annonce que les dégagements arrière sont majorés de l’ordre de 3,2 pouces. Comme il se doit, le XT5 2017 suit la mode avec l’intégration complète des connectivités AppleCar Play et Android Auto.
Pour la mécanique, une seule offre sera disponible en Amérique, on parle d’un compétent V6 de 3,6 litres que l’on connaît bien puisqu’il est déjà présent dans les ATS et CTS. Dans son cas, il accordera une puissance de 310 chevaux et un couple de 270 lb-pi. Pour la transmission, c’est sans surprise que l’on arrive avec la boite automatique de huit rapports. Sur les marchés internationaux, il y aura aussi le L4 de 2,0 litres de livrable avec près de 272 ch., mais nous n’en bénéficierons malheureusement pas, du moins pour le lancement.
En matière de prix, Cadillac demeure coi. Toutefois, on peut supposer qu’il restera proche de 43 200 $ pour l’offre de base, une tarification similaire au SRX qu’il remplace. Plus de détails à venir suivant son introduction au Salon de l’auto de Los Angeles.
