With the reveal of the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe last week, we knew that the hard-hitting AMG version couldn’t be far off. Well, it’s now been made official as Mercedes has revealed a little about their new Bahnstormer a week before its Frankfurt debut.
As is tradition with AMG, the car seen here is the Edition 1, which gets a few sparkly add-ons to help differentiate itself from other models down the road. Available only in AMG-S trim, the Edition 1 gets special Magno Selenite paint, highlighted with a yellow band on the lower doors and one leading from the nose all the way back to the trunklid spoiler. The ultra-light wheels also get a matching yellow highlight.
Like the sedan before it, black appliques are found throughout the body panels, highlighted by a carbon-fibre rear diffuser from which emerge four big tailpipes.
Inside—big surprise—the Coupe gets a lot from its 4-door cousin. Nappa leather covers the seats, with—you guessed it—yellow highlights, also finished in Nappa leather. Dinamica faux-suede coves the steering wheel, which should provide a strong grip.
As is the case with any AMG, the heart of the Coupe sits under the hood. There, you’ll find the 4.0-litre V8 seen elsewhere in the AMG line-up. It should make 476-503 horsepower, depending on whether you select the AMG or AMG-S model.
The 2016 C63 Coupe(s) will be officially introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week.
