Audi chose the 2016 Montreal Auto Show for the official market launch of the all-new 2017 Audi A4. Well, Ausi says it’s all-new; the A4, however, is a winning formula and if you’re Audi, you don’t want to mess too much with a good thing, hence some fairly timid/conservative styling updates.
We’d like to say there’s some great added detail that really sets the ’17 model apart from what we currently see, but there really isn’t What you see in these photos, is pretty much what you get.
Inside, though, the tone changes a little. Audi is known for their sublime passenger compartments, and that knowledge was not forgotten when it came to designing the new car. Top-tier materials are used throughout the cabin, and the whole affair is finished without reproach. Size-wise, rear occupants get a little more room to breathe, demonstrating that Audi is serious about marketing the A4 as a family car.
Typically, the A4 has always had at least two engine choices—a gas an da diesel—but with dieselgate still going on over at parent company Volkswagen, all we’re getting for the time being is the venerable 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-four, good for 252 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, transmitted to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. Those who want a more involving ride from their A4, however, will be content to learn that there are plans to offer a manual transmission, as well.
With pricing starting at $43,200 for the basic Komfort S tronic trim, you just know Audi is likely to have another winner on its hands.
