From the front bumper to the rear fascia, similarities can be found. The front grille has been given some chrome accents (this is a Buick, after all), while the rear taillights are reduced a little from the Avenir. The styling is simpler, but still classic.

Under the hood, an updated version of The Genral’s award-winning direct-injection 3.6L V6, which now produces 305 horsepower and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. The second generation also adds cylinder deactivation, helping fuel economy. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, and all-wheel drive comes as an option.

Lighter than last year’s car by 300 lbs., the 2017 LaCrosse is nevertheless longer and wider than the 2015 car. Five-link rear suspension, meanwhile, will make for smoother progress.

With technology now crossing numerous platforms, drivers can now easily integrate their smartphones  thanks to Apple Carplay and Android Auto through Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system. With those two technologies, the eight-inch screen can mirror your smartphone’s interface. Of course, numerous voice commands are on-hand to allow drivers to keep their hands on the wheel, and eyes on the road.

To make for a quieter ride, a host of additions have been made. More sound-resistant panels, glass and active noise reduction all come as standard. In addition, the interior material qualities have been boosted.

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse arrives in dealers next summer.
