Winter is approaching. In fact, it has already arrived in some regions while others still await their first snow. Regardless, we know that very soon, we will have to face the ice, snow, snow banks, and all the other implications that come with winter driving. Here are some tips to avoid getting stuck, or worse, this winter.

Make sure you have good tires

It is therefore very important to equip your vehicle with good winter tires. Do not skimp on the quality, and if you doubt that your present tires are still effective and in good condition, replace them before the first snow.

In addition, it is wise to replace your summer wipers with models suited to winter, in order to ensure better visibility. And speaking of visibility, before leaving home in the morning after a storm, make sure you remove as much snow as possible from your vehicle.

Slowing down on the road

Many forget this very important piece of advice. They think they know their vehicle well, and forget that ice can strike at any time, even if the road seems clear. Regardless of road conditions, it is important to slow down in winter. This will give you more flexibility when you need to slow down or when approaching a curve which could be more slippery than you think.

Being prepared

It’s important to be prepared in winter. This means that it is wise to have at least one bag of salt or sand in our trunk as well as an extra hat, mittens, scarf, warm clothes, a shovel and booster cables.
