You are just about to buy a new car. But before you can finalize the transaction, you need to get rid of your current vehicle. You can always give the vehicle to the dealership as a trade in and get its value plus tax, or you can try to sell it yourself.
The first step is to set the price. Most people tend to overestimate the value of their vehicle, only because depreciation on certain vehicles is rather hard to digest. That said, you can ask for a price that is a couple of thousands of dollars about the market value of your current car, but you will probably not get it.
It’s better to go online and see what other vehicles that are similar to yours in terms of mileage, equipment and model year are going for. When doing this, try to be objective. If a given vehicle with 40 000 kilometers is selling for $ 12,999 and yours has 74 000 kilometers, you need to go lower than $ 12,500. Try to put yourself in the shoes of potential buyers.
Next, make sure your vehicle is always clean. You never know when an interested buyer will show up to have a look and a test drive. If that should happen, you want your vehicle’s exterior as well as its interior to be spotless.
Once the car is clean as a whistle, it’s time to proceed with the photography session. The more pictures you have of your vehicle from every possible angle, inside and out, the better. Remember, people will most likely be seeing your vehicle online and having a lot of pictures puts you a step ahead of most sellers who only put three or four images.
Along with the pictures, add as much information about your car’s equipment as possible. Simply writing “car is in great shape” is not enough.
Finally, make sure to show your car everywhere. There are tons of online shopping sites, and the more places you showcase your vehicle, the better. Simply sharing the fact that you are selling your vehicle on Facebook probably won’t do it, although you also want to include social media in your selling endeavor.
