What matters in or on a vehicle in winter

Canadian drivers know how winter driving is different from driving in summer. In summer, there are very few obstacles on the road while in winter, ice, snow, cold, salt and sand mix to create a cocktail of elements that must be managed with caution.

Fortunately, several items exist to help us get through the winter without much hassle. Here are the pieces of equipment that allow us to survive the winter without difficulty.

Winter tires

Our winter tires are the most important element of our vehicle in winter given that in the end, they are the only point of contact between our vehicle and the road. So make sure to have good winter tires that are also in good condition before the first snow hits the ground.

Winter mats

Winter mats will help you preserve the resale value of your vehicle. How? Simply by avoiding the formation of salt rings on your original carpets. These will be practically impossible to clean after a winter, so it’s wise to replace them with rubber mats designed for winter as soon as the first snow falls.

Protective wrap

The latter is installed on the door mirrors, grille, lower doors and headlights of your vehicle, and protects against small rocks which, as we know, are much more present on the roads in winter.

Snow brush and wipers

Visibility is very important in winter. You want to ensure you are able to see what’s around you. That is why it is important to have a good snow brush (and take the time to use it), and even to replace the summer wipers with models designed for winter.
